Nursing in Sri Lanka

I’m very excited to share with all of you that in October I’ll be heading to Sri Lanka on a nursing trip! Volunteering abroad has always been a dream of mine and I couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity.

As of right now I don’t know exactly where I’ll be placed. It may be in a high-quality medical facility with a lot of other staff, or it may be in an under-resourced clinic with only a few others by my side. Somedays I will be doing patient assessments, while others will be spent teaching about healthcare in community outreach programs. All of this will depend on where I am needed once I’ve arrived.

I’ll be staying with a family who has generously opened their doors to me. They’ll allow me to help them with their daily routine, teach me about their culture, and show me what a normal day of a Sri Lankan is like.

Ideally I would like to be abroad for at least 3 weeks to get the most out of this experience. There are costs associated with going on this adventure which include organizational, flights, visas, immunizations, and medical insurance. I’m estimating that this will all add up to $4000.

I am humbly asking you for two things – your financial and emotional support. I’m first requesting your financial assistance to help cover the costs associated with making this trip possible. Secondly I’m asking for your emotional support by providing encouragement, optimism, and enthusiasm along this journey.

Thank you in advance for all of your support, whether it be financial or emotional. I couldn’t be more excited to pursue this dream!
