Clinic in Kenya

I am delighted to share with you that I have been accepted to volunteer with Arm-In-Arm Volunteers. I will be joining the Living in Total Health Initiative (LITHI) in Kenya this summer from the 1st to the 30th of June. I am stationed in a clinic at Kiambiu, a slum in Nairobi County.

LITHI is a registered non-governmental organization in Kenya in partnership with Arm-In-Arm Volunteers that provides basic healthcare services to underprivileged community members. There are approximately 250,000 city dwellers in Kiambiu and, like in all other slums, the residents are of low socioeconomic status. I am, therefore, making myself available to be part of the solution by shadowing doctors and nurses, as well as assisting patients in performing vital tasks. Other volunteer activities include performing laboratory services, creating awareness in the local community on emerging issues, especially with focus on the health of youth and women, environmental sustainability awareness and community clean-up.

It is my desire that through these activities I can join in the restoration of hope, health and well-being of the residents of Kiambiu slum.

Would you like to support me this summer? I am required to raise $2000 to cover part of the transportation, training, meals, housing, and program costs.

Thanks 🙂
